Slide bearing

for various types of sunblinds

The customer’s requirement

With a slide bearing, the shaft slides in the bearing. We developed and produced the slide bearing for Schellekens & Schellekens for various types of sunblinds. Together we were able to come up with an innovative and sustainable solution.

Our challenge

  • Wear-resistant
  • Reduced number of parts
  • Minimized friction

Slide bearing

Our solution

The solution lies in the selected material and the product design. We chose a specific raw material that fulfilled the schedule of requirements and we made a product design that consisted of just a few parts.

Another, more recent project involved the development of a completely new series of plugs in different versions linked to the range of tubes. The engineers at Alligator Plastics devised a smart concept consisting of one tailpiece and several front pieces. Using exchange parts on the mold for the different versions enabled us to achieve considerable savings on the mold costs.

Cooperation with the people at Alligator Plastics is very pleasant. The lines of communication are short, they can react quickly and are very committed to us as client. I can always count on them.

Geert Kersten - Operational Manager

Our cooperation

Geert Kersten: ‘Our relationship with Alligator Plastics has a long history. We have been working together for more than 30 years to develop and produce high-quality plastic parts. I like working with Alligator Plastics because they pursue the same reliability as we do. What is more, they are committed to our company and actively think together with us about smart and cost-saving solutions.

Together with Alligator Plastics we achieved a good result in record time on this project, so that the market introduction could proceed entirely as planned. The cost price of the parts is very acceptable, so we can sell the products at a price in line with the market.’

About Heras

Schellekens & Schellekens was founded by the Schellekens brothers. In the first instance they focused on the retail market for sunblinds. In 1983 the attention shifted fully to non-residential buildings, and the company has developed into a leading player on the Dutch market. Schellekens & Schellekens has all the important disciplines under the one roof. Design as well as manufacture, fitting, service and maintenance are carried out entirely in-house.

The business is part of Hunter Douglas, world market leader in innovative window covering products.
